Issue 1 Production Checklist
Tomas Reed uses this checklist to turn approved reporting into Issue 1 of the fictional Alder Quay Bulletin, scheduled for Thursday, 5 November 2026. The deliverables are one short email and a matching two-page print edition. Leila Chen owns editorial sign-off; Imani Brooks owns the access review. A checked production task is not permission to publish an unverified claim.
Copy and evidence — through 19 October
- Leila: Obtain the library’s approved details for the proposed 12 November repair café: time, location, cost, access information, and a public route for late changes. Substitute another verified notice if the event is not confirmed.
- Leila: Ask the community-garden coordinator to verify the update and any invitation to volunteers. Record permission separately for every named quotation or photograph.
- Leila: Confirm the community hall’s revised hours and effective date with its manager; do not infer exceptions or publish a private contact number.
- Tomas: Keep one ledger per item with its source, verification date, permission status, editor, and final approved wording. Mark unknown facts as open rather than filling gaps from memory.
Build and proof — through 26 October
- Tomas: Assemble the three sections—This Fortnight, People & Places, and Useful Notice—in a roughly three-minute email and a two-page print proof. Carry the issue date and correction route into both.
- Tomas: Use text headings and descriptive links; keep dates, locations, costs, and next steps understandable when images are switched off. Include reply and unsubscribe routes in the email.
- Imani: Read the email on a narrow phone screen and without images. Check heading order, link meaning, contrast, and any informative image description.
- Imani: Read a physical-size print proof for type legibility, contrast, clear page breaks, and the same essential facts as the email. Log the precise problem and the revision needed.
Approval and release gate
By 2 November, Tomas prepares a team-only test send and logs every correction. Leila rechecks the source ledger, resolves Imani’s access findings, and approves the exact final version. If a candidate item lacks confirmation or publication permission, remove or replace it; do not treat a draft as a release-ready announcement.
- Tomas, 5 November: Send only to opted-in recipients after Leila’s approval, without exposing subscriber addresses.
- Tomas, 5 November: Deliver the approved print quantity only to pickup points that agreed to stock it; record copies and final cost against the £120 first-run ceiling.
- Leila: If a factual error emerges after sending, issue a dated correction through the next available channel and record the affected item for the 12 November review.
